To a child, “love” is spelt “t-i-m-e”. – Zig Ziglar
Science has proven that the more time you spend with your kids today, it will end up leaving an impact on them for the rest of their lives. Spending time doesn’t mean just being around them. It is about being involved and taking an interest in your child’s daily activities.
So let us look at 5 ways of spending quality time with your little ones –
Dance and Sing together
Prepare a list of songs and rhymes. Sing them aloud with your kid. Dance and match each other’s steps. Truly enjoy the vibe of this activity as a team.
Compliment your child each time he or she goes the extra mile in this activity with you. From making additional efforts to coordinate with you and memorize the lines well, it could be anything that you believe is challenging their comfort zone. Fix a time of the day in a week and do this like a ritual.
Assign them few chores along with you
Let them be responsible right from the start. Give them simple job roles, for example, helping you place the dishes, watering the plants and accompanying you to the shopping mall.
Make them feel responsible and proud of each little effort that they do. You may also attach small rewards as a way of keeping them involved and motivated.
Take them out for a walk
Fix a time each day when you take your little one out for a stroll. On your walk, discuss things that your child is fascinated with. From generic topics like nature, cloud, skies and flowers to serious ones around people, relationships, life and its principles.
Instil a feel-good factor and make them learn at least one good thing each day.
Play with them
Let them pick up a game of their choice and follow their choices. Become a child yourself and allow your kid to feel that you are their age and that they are in charge. Observe how your kid responds to this activity and learns from the happenings around him or her.
So next time you see them requesting you to play kitchen set, make some time and go for it!
Travel with them
Every 6 months, plan a trip and while you plan it, seek opinions from your kid. Make them a part of the planning process. Give them a reason if you reject any of their ideas and allow them to do the reverse as well.
Once you are back, allow them to discuss their experience and write about their travel too. Contribute to their thoughts and have them think more deeply around it. It will surely improve their thinking process and they might surprise you the next time!
The best part about parenthood is seeing your little ones grow. It’s about them being curious, innovative and imaginative.
Kids who spend quality time with their parents build a positive sense of self-worth and more than just being parents, you end up building long-lasting friendships with them. All it takes is some commitment and lots of love! ????
